British Museum - Background
The British Museum is quite simply one of the most important treasure houses in the world. Founded in 1753, the museum is the world's oldest and arguably the most prestigious.
The astonishingly rich and varied collection includes the Elgin Marbles from the Parthenon (amidst 30 galleries of ancient Greek and Roman artifacts), Egyptian mummies and monumental statues, prehistoric and Celtic treasures - including the 2000 year old Lindow Man, in addition to impressive Middle Eastern, Medieval European, and Oriental artwork and archaeological remains.

Opening Times and Admission Prices
The British Museum is open 10am to 5.30pm Sat-Wed and Thurs-Sat 10am to 8.30pm..
There is no Admission Charge!
