Harrods
Harrods - Background
London's most famous department store recently celebrated 150 years of trading, 96 of those from its swanky Knightsbridge headquarters. Employing in excess of 3,000 staff, Harrods is the store of royalty and the famous, although these are heavily outnumbered at any given time by the legions of gawking tourists. Nothing is cheap at Harrods, so if you can resist the temptation to buy, then there is plenty to see and be amazed by for free.
Highlights of a trip to Harrods:
- The magnificent Food Hall, with it's Edwardian tiling and produce from around the world.
- The Egyptian Hall's hieroglyphs and sphinxes.
- The exterior at night, lit by 12,000 lights.
