Madame Tussauds

Madame Tussauds - Background

Madame Tussaud's waxwork museum has been one of the most popular attractions in London for decades, attracting around 3 million visitors each year. Tourists have over the years satisfied a seemingly insatiable desire to be photographed next to a wax replica of their favourite star, member of the royal family, and the famous and infamous from throughout history.

Madame Tussaud herself was French, and first displayed her wax effigies in the London of 1835. Nearly two centuries later - and only a stones throw from the site of her original exhibition - Madame Tussauds still attracts a huge audience.

The London Planetarium is situated next door to Madame Tussauds, and provides a spectacular recreation of the stars, solar system, and space travel. Joint tickets can be purchased.

Highlights of a trip to Madame Tussauds include:

  • The Spirit of London Ride
  • The Chamber of Horrors exploring London's gruesome past
  • The Celebrity Garden Party
  • The London Planetarium
